Wossy pities 'poor' Graham Norton
|
Tubthumping fans rejoice: Jonathan Ross has been laying into rival chat show host Graham Norton – although as they both broadcast on BBC1 on different days, in different time slots, we’re not quite sure why.
"What have we got on TV over the weekend?” asked Wossy rhetorically during his Radio 2 show on Saturday. “We had Graham Norton's Totally Saturday. Well, that's not good enough. Poor Graham, I feel for him watching that show."
Graham's series is halfway through its eight-episode run, with initial viewing figures of 4.31 million recently dropping to 2.58 million. Said Ross: "It makes even that series John Barrowman was in look like a work of genius – and I was watching that for all the wrong reasons."
Hmmm, maybe Jonathan should be saving his energy for Piers Morgan, whose Life Stories chat show is set to air in a primetime Saturday night slot on ITV1. The Britain’s Got Talent judge has made no secret of his dislike for JoRo. "Early next year our chat shows will compete for ratings and the sad truth is that I think Wossy's had his day,” he has said.
"He looks bored, has grown insufferably smug and when warm-up act Four Poofs and a Piano get bigger laughs than you, it’s over."
One insider told People: "Ross has also got increasingly sycophantic to guests, as if he is desperate to be Mr Nice Guy again, but that makes for very boring viewing. We're convinced Ross has lost his mojo. If Life Stories establishes itself on Saturday nights as the place for stars to do their big interview, he's finished."
